Cliveden National Trust, a Perfect Family Day Out!

Nestled above the River Thames, Cliveden offers a blend of history, nature, and adventure, making it an ideal destination for families.

Cycling at Cliveden:

While cycling within the estate isnt permitted, visitors are encouraged to cycle to Cliveden and can secure their bikes in the provided racks at the Walled Garden. For young children aged five and under, small scooters and balance bikes are allowed on the estate. Mobility scooters are also welcome, but standard bicycles should be left by the Information Centre.

Dog-Friendly Areas:

Cliveden warmly welcomes dogs across many parts of the estate. In the woodlands, dogs can roam off-lead, provided they’re under close control. In the formal gardens and areas north of the Main Drive and Spring Drive, dogs are permitted on short leads. However, certain zones, such as the Water Garden (including the Storybook Play Den), the Parterre Lawn, the Conservatory Cafe, the chapel, and guided house tours, are reserved for assistance dogs only. Additionally, dogs are not allowed in the maze and the children’s play area.

Storybook Play Den:

Children will be enchanted by the Storybook Play Den, an adventure playground featuring wooden carvings of beloved storybook characters, including those from “Wind in the Willows” and a giant Captain Hook. The area is equipped with picnic benches, and the nearby house cafe offers refreshments for families.

With its expansive gardens, scenic woodlands, and engaging play areas, Cliveden provides a memorable experience for the entire family.
